York finished with a 331 team score, 17 strokes better than second-place Wheaton North.
Freshman Madison Cotey was the meet medalist for York. She finished with a 70. Sophomore Maya Patel was fifth with a 79, while senior Briley O’Brien finished with an 85 and tied for seventh. Junior Bella Cortez and senior Olivia Gumino finished tied for 21st with 97s.

The Dukes finished with a team score of 302. Host Elk Grove was second with a 311.

“We had another great day on the golf course in very tough playing conditions with constant rain, cold and borderline unplayable greens, but our kids persevered and won a regional with some very good scores,” York coach Jim Borel said.
Hickman, Cecil and Brian Huber all tied for second with 75s, one stroke off the individual regional title score of 74. Will Huber tied for ninth with his 77, while Gage Jacobs fired a 78, but did not count in York’s final team score. Jacobs tied for 11th. Sophomore Colin Pittman shot an 83.
“I was proud of how we kept composure all day and battled to the end,” Borel said.

“We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete with some of the best teams in the state,” Borel said late last week.
