Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital celebrates centennial

Posted

On Saturday, Oct. 10, Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital held a community reception to celebrate its centennial.

The community reception featured remarks from Endeavor Health CEO JP Gallaher; Elmhurst Hospital President Kim Darey, MD; and Elmhurst Hospital Chief Medical Officer and pediatrician Michael Hoffman, MD—and during which Scott Levin, mayor of Elmhurst proclaimed Oct. 10, 2026, as Elmhurst Hospital Centennial Day in the city.

Levin presented the proclamation to Dr. Darey.

The event, organized by Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation, was attended by approximately 150 donors, Foundation board members, Foundation Ambassadors, city officials, community leaders and Endeavor Health leaders.

Elmhurst Hospital was the first hospital in DuPage County—the result of a community-wide fundraising effort that led to its opening on Oct. 10, 1926, with 85 beds and an operating room outfitted and financed by hospital founder, Edward Marquartdt, MD.
